I went to Malacca on a short trip from Kuala Lumpur. From Kuala Lumpur to Malacca is easy to access the city and the distance between the two ones is not demotivating. It took about 2 hours to get from Kuala Lumpur to Malacca.
To go there I went to the main bus station in Kuala Lumpur by myself using the metro lines by leaving at Bandar Tasik Selatan station. It is very easy to access the bus terminal as the MRT stops just near it.
I bought a ticket from a self-service machine. Easy to use and hassle-free. There was a local next to it to help too. This bus station is very big so inside I could find several restaurants and convenience stores. The ticket from Kuala Lumpur to Malaca cost me 11,20 ringgit (not much more than 2€) and it was funny that the ticket for the way back was a few cents cheaper haha.
To come from Malacca to Kuala Lumpur I bought the ticket at Malacca bus station a few minutes before departure.
The bus station in Malacca is not very far from the center, but you still need a means of transport to get there. It is way too far for a walk. Once at Malacca’s bus station, I booked a Grab to go to my hotel. I believe this might be a good option because, unlike some Southeast Asian destinations, here people will not harass you to try to sell a ride anywhere. You are on your own and people don’t seem to care much that you are around. Definitely not that vibe: what is this alien doing here?
So Malacca is a short trip from Kuala Lumpur and a cheap one too. No excuse to not visit. Check out what the city has to offer HERE!
But there are other short getaway trips from Kuala Lumpur. Check for example Kuala Selangor or Ipoh.
