To get from Tuy Hoa to Nha Trang there are several options. You can either do it by train, bus or public transport. Yes, there is a public bus connecting Nha Trang and Tuy Hoa, one that runs a few times a day. This came very handy this time, because during the Vietnamese New Year, the bus tickets were sold out so I didn’t even try the train.
I found out there was a public bus from Tuy Hoa to Nha Trang because I saw it riding along Tuy Hoa’s streets. I needed to ask the receptionist for help with this as I had no idea where the bus stopped or what its schedule was. She was very helpful and found that info online for me, in Vietnamese. A search I couldn’t do on my own as I don’t speak the language.
While I was talking to her and figuring out a way to go from Tuy Hoa to Nha Trang I actually saw the bus passing by. I noted the time and the next day I was waiting for it at the same time I saw it passing by the previous day. It worked out haha.
The bus stop was a 5-minute walk away from the hotel, which was perfect. The bus showed up at the station at 9.30 am and cost 75K to go from Tuy Hoa to Nha Trang.
It arrived in Nha Trang at about 12.30 pm on a ride that was comfy for me because I was one of the first ones hopping on the bus as I was waiting for it at one of its first stops. There were too many people traveling at that time. The bus was packed and several people were standing for hours or they gave up and decided to sit on the floor. If sitting, the ride is just fine. Beautiful views along the way and a cheap option to travel between cities. This bus makes several stops along the way including Van Gia, a place I have visited before.
The same journey is possible in the opposite direction.
In Tuy Hoa, I stayed at Huong Sen Hotel which was near the train station and bus station too. To hop on this public bus from Tuy Hoa to Nha Trang I waited at Cong Vien Dien Hong, you will see the bus stop sign.
