After researching for what is the most beautiful train ride in Vietnam, I come to the conclusion that I will travel from Hue to Da Nang by train, although this is not the final destination.
This train ride in Vietnam from Hue to Da Nang takes about 2 hours and only getting closer to Da Nang is where I understand why this is the most beautiful train ride in Vietnam.
The train is not as I was expecting. I was thinking of a train like Myanmar ones where you can open the windows and let the wind hit your face. I was expecting an old train and a kind of adventurous and fun train ride. But, Vietnam is a few years ahead of Myanmar, and so are trains. The train looks perfectly fine, clean, no rats on sight, or some other crawler, and comfy seats. There are no sellers hopping in and out and the train ride is pretty normal. Nothing adventurous or fun about it.
Anyway, this is the most beautiful train ride in Vietnam, so the views are the matter. And views from this train are like no other. The railway line runs along the coast and has a privileged view of the sea that is vivid blue. You can see when the sea meets the land: the water becomes clearer, letting you see how rocky the landscape is. It is a magnificent view and exciting.
In several parts of the line, the train is the closest thing to the sea. Between us and the water, there is only the green of nature that appears to be untouched. I particularly like the many white flowers that cover most of the view until the eye reaches the blue of the sea.
All the green that covers the land very close to the sea appears to be vines that run over each other giving a very wild look to the landscape. They are covered with small white flowers. I don’t know if I went exactly at the right time of year, but the reality is that these flowers brighten up the stunning landscape. Those many flowers cover all the curious and dazzled gaze behind the train window. I did this train ride in April.
This train ride in Vietnam is hopelessly worthy because of the landscape. We were lucky to sit on the right train side. For this, the ideal is the left seats taking into account the direction of the train. But we didn’t choose, it was truly luck!
Arriving at Da Nang, the next destination is Hoi An, a very charming port city.
