There are more than 2000 Bagan temples, so the chance of not visiting them all is very high. You need to select the most important ones. In case you have plenty of time, you don’t need to search for this selection so hard, but having in mind the ones you really want to visit is very important.
Otherwise, it can happen the same as me. You get so excited about so many temples around you that you stop at everyone and then you miss time to visit the must visit Bagan temples. As I told before, you can’t climb temples any longer, but you surely don’t want to miss seeing them as the biggest ones are very different from each other.
To see all of the mentioned below, the most important ones, you need at least 2 days.
Here’s a list of Bagan temples I haven’t missed and you also shouldn’t:
Ananda
This temple is the cleanest and best-preserved one in the area. It’s the most important one and you surely don’t want to miss a sight. It’s really beautiful!
Manuha Temple
Sulamani
Thatbyinnyu
Htilominlo
Pagoda Shwezigon
This temple is the most gold one in Bagan area.
Dhammayangyi
Mahabodhi Temple
Bupaya Pagoda
This is an awesome spot to watch the sunset. Although most part of the tourists seeks the sunset among the temples, I prefer spots with water for the sunset. The sun reflection on the water is just way too good. I went for the sunset here during my stay in Bagan and there were no tourists there.
Gawdawpalin
Dhammayazika
On the way to this temples, you will find a lot of smaller temples. I couldn’t resist the chance of stopping and get some photos. I noted a difference from the day I went alone and the day I was with Sofia. When I went alone I had people abording me trying to sell stuff. Nothing that is too boring to handle, don’t worry. I just didn’t experience that before in Bagan.
Get your list of temples to visit done and get prepared for some amazing calm days among ancient temples.
