As I mentioned before, I have been to one Full Moon party Koh Phangan before and I didn’t enjoy it that much. This time was much different. This year I have done a volunteer in Koh Phangan and during those days I had the chance to attend several parties. I ended up going to the full moon party and the Jungle experience. Let’s talk about the Jungle experience party before.
Jungle experience
The jungle experience is a party the day before the full moon party. It happens in the middle of the jungle but not as far out in the jungle as you may think. We were indeed surrounded by jungle and the floor was dirt. Not sure what is the hype about this party haha Especially because of its price: 1300 BH.
So I went with all the volunteers at WET hostel together, we were 11. Can you believe that about 30 minutes after getting in, 7 were already gone back to the hostel hahaha
Crazy! So, apparently, none of the volunteers was enjoying the music that much. But, the music was actually my vibe, so I was enjoying it indeed. It’s electronic music and I enjoy dancing and jumping to this type of music, but none of the volunteers was feeling the vibe. What a crap, because going to parties on my own isn’t really my thing. But after realizing none of the volunteers was up for dancing I decided to go on my own to the crowd. I think this was the second time I did this thing of going on my own to a party spot. Well, but I was there and I was enjoying the music so yeah I thought F+ck it. I will enjoy it on my own. Funny cause I ended up not being alone haha. I ended up seeing people that were staying at the hostel. Guests I have had hung with for a bit before, and I spent my night not alone at all. It’s crazy how things seem to happen naturally. As if they are meant to be. When it is regarding parties, people matter because parties are social gatherings.
I ended up enjoying the Jungle Experience very much!
Full Moon Party
Whenever people would ask me about the full moon party before, I wouldn’t say much about it, but this one was different, and why? The people. The people make all the difference.
So, if you had asked me about the full moon party before my answer revolved around people. I’m aware that I didn’t enjoy the 1st time at the party that much because the people I went with weren’t the right company for it. I ended up alone a few hours later and I wasn’t that drunk to think everything around me was amazing. It was ok because I liked the music. This year, 2023, was different.
But I still don’t see an obvious reason why this party is so famous haha
What is going on that special at this party? Hmmm, nothing really… there are some jump ropes on fire and people defying themselves to try not to get burned. People are wearing colorful outfits, and cool body paints. Some pay a lot to get a fancy drawing on their skin. There are several different types of music playing, you will surely find a spot that has your type of music. How it works is: every bar along the beach has its own music, so as you walk you will discover new sounds and you can stop wherever you want to enjoy the music. Basically, you are free to walk along the beach as you please, buy drinks anywhere you please, laughing gas balloons, weed, and so on. There are even sleeping areas haha
Expect a drunk crowd too.
So, in the end, what will make a difference is the people you end up hanging around with. This time I enjoyed the party way better because of the people I was with.
So my final opinion is: find your crew and you will enjoy the full moon party. Get yourself in the mood, no one is there to judge anyone.

The party has an entrance fee of 200bh. You are given a bracelet to enter and leave as you please. They close the entrance to the beach by putting a ticket booth on every street that leads to Haad Rin Beach. Except for a further street. Yes, there is a free entrance to the party if you choose this specific street. A Thai friend told me about it haha Nice to have local contacts. Message me if you want to know where it is.
Transport to the party
I didn’t need transport to get to the party cause the hostel was some meters away, but there were lots of songthaew taxis operating that night all night long. Accessing the party from other parts of the island is easy this way. There are also these paints and colorful shirts for sale everywhere, you will find a spot to buy the party dress code easily, so don’t worry.
In the end, everyone has a different experience so, if you are curious about it there is nothing better than trying to experience it for yourself. The first time I didn’t enjoy it much, the 2nd I loved it. It will end up being about the people anyway. Enjoy it!
