Usually, the major part of tourists stay in Nha Trang city center near the most popular beach in the city, but, not that far is a way prettier beach with clear blue water at a perfect temperature. It is Doc Let, a beach 50 km away from Nha Trang and reachable within 1 h by motorbike. But, there is a public bus to get there and that’s how I visited this beautiful beach I had no idea about.
Reaching Doc Let Beach by public bus
I found this beach precisely by looking for local bus routes and seeing what could I visit by local bus which is always a very cheap way of traveling in Vietnam. To hop on this bus I went to the bus stop near FPT. The bus takes about 1h15 to get from Nha Trang to Doc Let and costs 34K each way. The last bus from Doc Let to Nha Trang departed at 17.35 pm, but I didn’t want to risk missing the last bus so I went back to Nha Trang at 16.45 pm, which was just fine because we reached Nha Trang already in the dark. Also, in Doc Let the sand isn’t touched by sunlight at that time of the day.
Along the journey we come across some beautiful mountains tucked between rice fields and also some ocean views! Nice trip this one.
The bus stops right in front of the beach in Doc Let, which is awesome! I was surprised with the watercolors here, so clear. This beach is beautiful! There are several resorts along the beach with private areas I assume.
Doc Let Beach
I sat under a tree cause the sun at midday was unbearable and I was kicked by a security guy telling me I couldn’t stay there as the area belonged to the resort. I kept on going until I could see some shady spots, but yet another resort.
I thought I would be kicked out again, but honestly, seems like the shady areas are in front of these resorts anyway… Where would I stay then?
Luckily no one kicked me out and I was able to enjoy Doc Let beach under a coconut tree peacefully.
Vietnamese people are scared of the sun, so before 4 pm the beach is quite empty. I thought the place was a quiet one until later in the afternoon when everybody seemed to get out of their shell. There were lots of people showing up at the beach. Crazy! A huge difference in the amount of people before and after 4 pm.
The beach was very quiet and I enjoyed a quiet relaxing day. There are some jet skis to rent and water activities, but I simply lay on the sand and rested. I didn’t venture further on the beach either. Paradise was already found.
I think this beach is worth a visit and a stay if you are willing to go somewhere less known and less crowded than Nha Trang and even more beautiful! Did I mention the water temperature was perfect?!
I’m glad I decided to spend my day at Doc Let Beach.
