My fiance surprised me with a trip to Europe, two months before our marriage. We have been talking about going on one more trip as bachelors but I did not know he had Europe in his mind. One morning he called me up and said, “We are going to Europe!”. That time I did not know what to believe and how to react. Then he told me all the details of how he booked a package for the two of us from a company called Thrillophilia. It was a 7 days and 6 nights package that included a tour of Amsterdam, Paris and Zurich.
At first, I was indeed angry at him for being so impulsive and taking such a decision without discussing it with me. A huge expense was coming our way which was our wedding and I just felt that it was not the right time for us to go to Europe. Then I realised that what’s done is done and now the only thing left to do is to actually go to Europe. Before that, I wanted to be sure that he had booked everything correctly so I checked out the website. I read some information about the company and even went through a dozen positive reviews of Thrillophilia. After being assured, I was ready and excited to travel to my dream destination.
About the trip!!
As soon as we arrived at the Amsterdam airport, we received a call from an associate of the company that a driver was already waiting for us outside. First we collected our bags and completed the immigration process. It was really easy to spot our driver in the crowd as he was holding a board with our names on it. He shook hands with us and then helped us with our luggage. I loved the fact that there were some snacks and water bottles in the car for us which was a very thoughtful gesture.
From the airport, we got transferred to our pre-booked hotel. It was a beautiful hotel which was right next to a canal. It did not take long for the check-in formalities as Thrillophilia had already taken care of everything. We headed towards our room which was very spacious with beautiful interiors and a huge window right next to the bed.
Our first day was at leisure so we decided to explore our nearby places on our own. We left the hotel in the evening after taking sufficient rest. First we made a stop at a beautiful small cafe as we were extremely hungry. We ordered a pizza and two mocktails. After that we went to the nearby market, purchased some souvenirs and even interacted with a few locals. It was a sweet and simple beginning of our trip after which we headed back to our hotel.
The next day we were going to explore the major attractions of Amsterdam. We decided to travel by a local bus as I believe that you get to know about the local culture and daily lifestyle by only travelling in public transports. It was difficult to figure out at first where to get the bus from and which bus to take. My fiance contacted the customer representative of Thrillophilia who guided us so that we could get on the right bus. It was a double decker bus, although we could not get a seat on its roof.
Throughout the day, we visited several attractions such as the Anne Frank House, Vondelpark, Amsterdam’s Flower Market, Red Light District and Gassan Diamond Factory. We even tried a few local dishes such as Rookworst (sausage with mashed potatoes), Kroket (croquet), Bitterballen (deep fried meatballs), Pannenkoeken (Dutch pancakes) and Tampouce (cream pastry).
On the third day, we checked out early from our hotel as we were going to the ‘City of Love’, Paris. The driver came to pick us up and then dropped us off at the train station from where we boarded a train to Paris. After almost a 4 hour train ride, we finally reached our destination. Another driver of the company came to pick us up from the station and dropped us off at our pre-booked hotel. As it was our leisure day, we decided to stay in our room and rest.
Day 4 of our itinerary included a sightseeing tour of Paris. Our driver came to pick us up in the morning and we left right after having our breakfast. We explored the iconic landmarks of the city such as the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, Moulin Rouge Cabaret Club, Champ de Mars, Opera Garnier, Musee du Louvre, Notre Dame Cathedral, Musee d’Orsay, Champs-Elysees and the Grand Palais. It was a wholesome day where we got to admire stunning art pieces as well as learn more about the history of the city.

On day 5, we travelled from Paris to Zurich which was as beautiful as any other European city. After a 6 hour long journey, we finally arrived at our hotel in Zurich and completed the check-in formalities. We quickly freshened up and got dressed up to eat outside. We stopped at several food stalls to try the local street food of the city. We tried amazing dishes like Pretzel, Rosti (grated potatoes), Zopf (fluffy bread) and Raclette (cheese fondue). After eating, we were casually strolling around when we saw a musician singing on the streets. He was singing in a native language which we were unable to understand but even then we danced to its tune. Dancing on the streets of Zurich with my partner, in front of complete strangers is a core memory that I am going to cherish forever.
The next day we woke up with a beautiful view outside our window. We got ready while having our breakfast in the room. Today we were going on an excursion to the stunning Rhine Falls. Our driver dropped us at the train station from where we boarded a train to Schaffhausen. We explored all the three viewpoints of Rhine Falls. First we reached the Kanzeli and Fischnetz viewpoints from where we could touch the flowing water. Next we had to take a lift to reach the Belvedere viewpoint. From here we could witness breathtaking views of the falls. Before leaving, we tried a fun boat ride on the waters of the fall to make our day more exciting.
Day 8 was our day of departure and it was our time to bid farewell to this enchanting place. Europe is definitely a bucket list destination that everyone should visit at least once. We wanted to stay here for longer, however, we had to return home. After our breakfast, we completed the check-out formalities and our driver dropped us off at the airport.
The most memorable trip of my life!
It was a truly beautiful trip where everything was arranged perfectly for us. The little gestures like calling us to inform us that the driver is outside the airport, storing snacks in the car, or helping us over the call while we were stuck to get a transport really speaks a lot about the company. It was a smooth trip where we experienced literally zero hassle. I am glad that my fiance chose the right company for this trip as it was the last trip as bachelors and meant a lot for the both of us. I am dropping this Thrillophilia review to let others know that if they are reading this, they are on the right platform.
