This year, I embraced the adventure of traveling alone for the first time ever and also the first time in Asia. After nearly 4 months trip to Southeast Asia, I decided to change life and dedicate myself to a new project even more exciting: a bike trip.
I have visited India, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam and it was after the experiences live in those countries that a new idea came to life. Cycling in Myanmar among temples was one of my favorite and remarkable things I made the whole trip. The calmness and beauty of the surrounding landscape make Myanmar a great spot to ride a bicycle.
Just after coming back, I noticed what I have been telling my friends about this trip: That Myanmar was my favorite and now my ultimate dream would be riding a bicycle there through many places. And that’s how this idea came to live: taking a Portuguese bicycle with me to travel to Myanmar, just like the Portuguese did on boats a long time ago.
This is when I decided that I want to do the thing I liked the most during this trip again. Why not? It looks difficult but possible and I’m able to take risks for making it happen. And then a partnership with Portuguese bicycle company Ympek comes to life. The Portuguese brand will support me in this crazy idea and Ympek Surfing will be my travel mate for 1 month in the country. The first idea was to make all the moves on a bicycle, but as Myanmar is a big country, I opted for another solution. Ympek Surfing model is a folding bike, this way I can still explore the cities and around on it, but I can carry it with me on public transports such as trains and buses.
Also in partnership with Ostello Bello, an Italian Hostel chain installed in Myanmar, I will experience the Burmese lifestyle and culture in a genuine way on cities: Mandalay, Min Kun, Ava, Sagaing, Pindaya, Mount Popa, Bagan, Mindat, Mrauk-U. At least this is the plan for now.

I will also try to visit Portuguese ancestors: The Bayingyi. The Bayingyi descend from captive Portuguese in ancient Burma after the king Anaukpetlun defeated Filipe de Brito in 1613, a Portuguese explorer. The Bayingyi still have features that denounce their ancestors as they have lighter skin and eyes.
This bike trip will be shared daily on the blog and Instagram with daily photos of this incredible journey.

I will be traveling to Myanmar this November 2018 and will stay there for almost 1 month in a bike trip I hope to be unforgettable and inspiring so others can see our rich an experience like this can be. It can bring us a kind of richness that any money can buy. Send me a message if you are in Myanmar and would like to join 🙂
I will be writing in Portuguese about this bike trip at Sapo Viagens!
