Moving from island to island in Thailand is very easy so it was my boat ride from Koh Tao to Koh Phangan. There are a lot of places selling these tickets and once again the service is the same. You just need to look after the cheaper one because tourist offices sell them at different prices.
I bought my ticket at the Hostel where I stayed. I really liked this hostel and I was all the time eating in the restaurant next door that has the nicest lady cooking for you. I was always the only tourist eating there, but I didn’t mind. The lady is so caring and I know she is cooking the meal just for me by my side so I could watch all the process.
I left the Island, with a British couple that I met, after delivering my damaged motorbike. I needed to pay 500 bahts (13€) for the damages after begging for a discount. This expense was really out of my plans and you might think is not much, but you can do a lot with 13€ in Southeast Asia. Trust me!
There was a huge line of tourists waiting for the boat from Koh Tao to Koh Phangan. Again, 99% of the boat is full of foreigners. The ride isn’t that long and is very pleasant as you can watch Koh Tao from far away and start seeing Koh Phangan. The main reason I’m visiting this Island is the popular Full Moon party that I heard about, a lot. As it happens around the time I will be there, of course, I will go. This was actually the only party I went to during the trip. I noticed I’m not a wild party person anymore…
When arriving in Koh Phangan, you have a lot of pickups to take you whatever you want, you can join other people that are heading the same way and save some money as they sell this tickets per zone. Each zone has a fixed price. Trying to negotiate isn’t working here for my British friends. My Hostel is a 5 min walk from the pier, so I didn’t need any of those services.
I will stay in Koh Phangan for 4 nights.
