Going from Krabi to Ko Phi Phi is kind of fast and cheap. There is no problem in finding a tour operator selling these tickets. Even Hostels sell it, but not cheaper.
The ticket includes pick up at the Hostel and takes you to the Krabi pier where the boats depart to Ko Phi Phi. The boat ride is very pleasant as I’m going on the outside of the boat enjoying the hot wind and the nice view we get along the way.
Ko Phi Phi only has one pier that is Ao Tonsai. This is where all the boats to Phi Phi stop and that’s the place to schedule a dorm. If you are having doubts like me where to stay in Ko Phi Phi Islands, you must stay in Ko Phi Phi Don.
There are no cars or motos on the Island. The island is actually so small that you wouldn’t need it anyway. Instead, you have several men carrying a big hand car shouting Pi Pi along the way so people free the street. That’s funny because the Island’s name is the same as they are shouting. I booked a Hostel very close to the pier, a 10 minutes walk. This is where you will find all the Hostels on the Island. Regarding the rest of the island, you have resorts and bungalows that you can only reach by boat.
I feel like this Island lives for the tourists. It is full of restaurants, souvenir shops, tour operators and I believe all the Thai’s in there have a job related to tourism. The area is also not so big to be a place for living and after the Tsunami back in 2004, the Island had to reborn again and it also lost land space to the sea. Before the Tsunami the Island was full of great Hotels and Resorts, but after the tragedy, only smaller businesses were constructed.
This is known as a party Island and sure it is. There are parties every night. Fireshows and loud music on the streets full of young people having fun is a full week scenario. Some people were saying to me that Ko Phi Phi is so touristic and with so much party that it isn’t worth to go. But I’m glad I visited as this place is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. Ko Phi Phi is totally worth it, besides being a party place and I haven’t partied at all, the views the Island provides are too wonderful to miss. I was actually staying at a Hostel beside a bar with loud music, so I could only sleep after 1 AM. That’s when the music gets lower.
But don’t worry this is not like this the whole Island. You can definitely enjoy the calmness of this paradise if you stay away from the bars area.
