Going from Quang Ngai To Tuy Hoa

My next stop on this discovery of the Vietnamese coastline was Tuy Hoa in Phu Yen. To go from Quang Ngai to Tuy Hoa normally there would be daily buses, but this was during the Vietnamese New Year, so things were different.

Even though I thought that there would be no buses, my hostel manager assured me that there were many buses going to Tuy Hoa, which I found weird. But I trusted him and went to the bus station to buy the ticket there as there was nothing online.
Just like I thought, there were no buses running from Quang Ngai to Tuy Hoa that day. I knew it would be weird that lots of buses would be doing this route, but I mean, the guy is Vietnamese, he should know better than me. So this was such an avoidable hassle!
First of all, not even Grab was working. No one would accept my request on the app. So, I counted on the generosity of a guy in the hostel to take me to the bus station. Once at the bus station and knowing I wouldn’t have a bus from Quang Ngai to Tuy Hoa, the train option came to mind, but honestly I thought it would be fully booked already.
Throughout this mess, I was always in touch with the hostel manager who was impeccable and helped me out through all this process. Even though he told me the wrong information about the buses, he was the one helping me to find a way out of Quang Ngai anyway. So I wasn’t mad at him or whatsoever. He checked online and said that I could go by train that day.

From Quang Ngai to Tuy Hoa by train

So at Quang Ngai bus station, I had to find a motorbike taxi to take me to the train station. An expensive ride because it was the New Year so instead of 50K I paid 100K to go to the train station 10 minutes away. But I didn’t have another option anyway.

The hostel manager met me at the train station to help me with the ticket. He was always so useful. Thank you very much for your support and help Sir. I managed to book a train ticket 10 minutes before the departure time “What a lucky girl” he said haha and I agreed. The ticket was pricy: 452K dong on a bed. There weren’t cheaper options available that day.

Allow me to say that the middle bed in a 6 people cabin is a bad option. Can’t even sit properly because there is not enough room for the head. The compartment is too small. So when you book a train ticket, I recommend that you don’t choose the middle bed. Lower or top are better options because at least you can sit.

This train left Quang Ngai at 13:40 and arrived in Tuy Hoa at about 18h. It was an easy journey.

I stayed only one day in Tuy Hoa to see the major attractions of this place. You can read more about it HERE!
