Bangkok might have some popular sunset spots like a restaurant overlooking Wat Arun, the Golden Mount, Lebua Tower, or another rooftop bar, but I have spent many days in Bangkok and was missing more ideas of nice Bangkok sunset spots.
River cruise- aka local boat
Bangkok has some tourist boats with very touristy tours, but there is also a public boat service that works pretty well as a boat trip along the river. For 30bh, I was able to enjoy a pretty long river trip and enjoy the scenery that is very beautiful. I went from Phra Arthit to IconSiam on a pretty chilled trip as the boat wasn’t that full. While on board this boat, I thought that being on it for sunset time would be a good idea, and so I did. Why didn’t I think about this as a great Bangkok sunset idea before? When it was around sunset time, I boarded a boat from IconSiam back to Phra Arthit to make sure I was on the boat during the best of the golden hour. It was a good move. The boat ride takes less than 30 minutes but it is still a good option to enjoy the scenery along the river. The boat passes famous spots like Wat Arun, where you can see a nice golden shade while passing by the beautiful temple. It was a beautiful Bangkok sunset!
IconSiam shopping mall
Iconsiam is the ultimate shopping building in Bangkok. It is huge and has a floating market inside, beautiful typical decoration, and the most beautiful roller stairs I have seen in a shopping mall. The place is very charming and is worth a visit. Inside Iconsiam there is a “floating market”, but not a real one… just decoration alike. Along this “floating market” floor is always a huge amount of food stalls and souvenir stalls just like if it is another night market but inside a shopping mall. The place was super crowded!! Again, this is not a real floating market! Be aware, that just the decoration matches the name.
But Iconsiam has more to offer than luxury shops. It has one of the most beautiful views in Bangkok, I would say.
Iconsiam shopping mall stands tall just by the river and it offers privileged river views with the amazing city line ahead. This is a great Bangkok sunset spot, I must confess. The sunset here is gorgeous. It is free to access this floor with amazing views but there are also coffee shops where you can sit and enjoy the view. Totally recommend a visit! This place is definitely a great sunset spot as there is a water show with music downstairs by the pier and a very lively area.

From here I could see the Portuguese flag, which was weird haha later I found out that the Portuguese embassy is the oldest one in Bangkok and is in this beautiful building by the river. After some research I found out that there is a Portuguese neighborhood in Bangkok, so I made sure to visit. Check out more about it HERE!
